Penrith Agricultural Show

The Penrith Agricultural Society was formed in 1833 with the Society promoting the first Penrith Show the following year. This took place on Friday, 26th September, the venue being a field adjoining Croft House, Penrith. Since then the Society has grown in size and prominence now operating from its current site at Brougham Hall Farm, (by kind permission of the late Mr A Helme) on the fourth Saturday in July each year, with the 2016 show being on 23rd July.

The Society's aim is to promote the good of agriculture and livestock breeding in and around Penrith, to promote British Food & Farming in general and the drawing together of town and country for their mutual benefit.

Whilst retaining the tradition of a genuine agricultural emphasis, the show has gathered much momentum in recent years. Agricultural shows have always been special occasions enabling rural and urban communities to come together in competition in a wide spectrum of classes for farm livestock, arable, horses, rabbits, poultry, show jumping, industrial and horticulture.

Trade stands make an invaluable contribution to the essential atmosphere at the show. The food hall and rural crafts marquee, displaying regional fare in a village context, are other integral aspects. All of this and the tremendous variation of main ring attractions provide entertainment for all the family and friends.

Come and See – you may be surprised and delighted!!
